How do you spell "no business plan"? Advertising!
I'm fed up with all those companies, business models and naive entrepreneurs who just don't have a clue about how to make money with their product, and try to explain to you that advertising will be the solution, "because, you know, advertisers will d-i-e to reach our audience in such a super fine targeted way and will pay super premium price for that privilege".
I invite those advertising visionaries to spend a couple of weeks talking with some real advertisers and account managers in media agencies about getting their commitment to a specific budget for the next quarter, just to get a glimpse of the real world and see how so different it is from what you can read in AdAge or some super edgy blog.

I know, it looks like I abandoned my Daily Tequila, but I didn't. When you have to be serious and work really hard you can't keep your bottle of Tequila at hand. But here's why you should use Tequila every day.

As social networks become more and more omnipresent and enable people doing more business more efficiently, large companies are blocking the access of their employees to most of the social networks because they spend too much unproductive time on them.
Tell me about a paradox...

Don't blame it, online porn is not responsible for this one. So, which one fits you best?

For how long can you keep flipping this?
I went on for almost 2 minutes. Feel more relaxed now.
What about you?

Some people have such complicated names that when I enter them on my keyboard I have the same feeling than when I enter a credit card number.
Disclaimer: I know that my name itself is not very easy neither for many people.

"You can't sell lemonade until you realize you have lemons" (from an ad for Promoterz)
Although a funny statement, it's very profound. Most of the time we don't realize the value of the assets we already have that could manifest if sold, or processed, in a specific way. And we spend most of out time looking for, or creating new assets.
Let's milk what we already have until the last drop, and we'll be surprised how much we can get out of it.

I'm in Dubai right now. Amazing place, but and I can't access Twitter. I get a friendly site blocked page telling me that what I'm writing on Twitter, and what my friends are writing, is inconsistent with some kind of religious, cultural, political, and moral values that the good people of the United Arab Emirates are trying to defend.
I'd love to know what those values are, so I could try to be a bit more consistent with those. I should definitely start writing about money, luxury, booze, women, and private islands so I can be on the white list again. Gosh, it's so difficult to be considered nowadays!

Happened last night when trying to access Blogger.
Note to entrepreneurs: don't worry too much about the glitches of your platform. It happens to the big guys too ;-)

Came across some nice mapping and spacial-visualization tools.
Among those, you can monitor the US presidential campaign and visualize the world news.
Refreshing.

I was searching for something totally different when I stumbled upon this great quote:
If there were in the world today any large number of people who desired their own happiness more than they desired the unhappiness of others, we could have paradise in a few years. It's soooo accurate!

I set up the TV alarm clock in my hotel room in Madrid this morning, and I woke up with the news showing another woman murdered by her husband. Almost every day you have this kind of news in the media. Macho is indeed a Spanish word, but there must be something else to make Spain have such a high rate of domestic violence.
You even have some TV shows that are almost exclusively dedicated to those stories. Isn't that a chicken and egg situation?

Something is really wrong with the TV rights nowadays. Even a front line, traditional newspaper such as Le Figaro is pointing to a YouTube video to illustrate Marion Cotillard winning the Oscar. More and more "official" sources do that. Translated, that means "yeah, we're as pissed as all of you are for not being able to watch the Oscars wherever we are, and even more for not getting a grip of the key moments in video on some official site. So thanks to the citizens who are uploading the videos for the whole world to see them". Even if it's not so legal.
Oh, by the way, the video in question has been removed from YouTube since, but it's still embedded on the Figaro page.
There MUST be a way out of this absurdity...

I didn't vote for him in the first round, although I did in the second to avoid having this Segolene thing destroying what's left of France. But I was pretty happy to see that Mr Sarkozy started to do some great work in reforming a crippling French society and economy stuck in parts in the 19th century, parts in the glorious sixties.
No comment for the divorce with Cecilia, she's probably a bitch as many people say. Hanging around with Carla is OK, although I would have loved to see this as a discrete, mostly confidential story. The marriage was too much, way too much. The world destroyed millions of trees just to cover this ridiculous story. La France is perishing, Sarkozy was elected to revive it, and instead of focusing on this vital task, the guy is parading as the new star of a à la mode sitcom.
Nobody can handle that, and the polls shows 62% of French have a negative opinion of him. Very bad for a president elected 8 months ago.
However, I think the unacceptable occurred this week-end at the famous French Agriculture Convention in Paris, visited by every president each year as a very symbolic gesture. Shaking hands with everybody, a rigid smile on his face, and surrounded by the TV cameras, Sarkozy wants to shake the hand of a gray-haired man who's not facing him and is clearly not in the mood of interacting with the president. The guy says: "Don't touch me, you're soiling me". Sarkozy immediately answers "Then fuck off, asshole" ("casse toi alors, pauvre con"), not once, but twice. The story was on all TV and press news yesterday and today.
I'm absolutely revolted against this kind of public behavior, and it's not the first occurrence. So Mr, you either learn how to behave as a President, or you stick to touring with Carla for her upcoming new album and let someone else take care of La France.
The video footage is here.

It's been a while now I'm trying to apply the GTD method. I even use a great app on my Mac, iGTD.
I'm pretty good at putting down all my To Do list and organizing it. But the problem I have seems to be pretty common: how to actually start executing the without procrastinating or loosing track. Rings a bell?
I found those tips and they seem very clever. I'll try them.
Have you? Let me know what you think, I'm eager to tackle that issue!

I realized that being the mom of a 11 month baby is a full time, exhausting, non-stop job, and you can get seriously burned out like with any exagerated and intense work. So I sent baby Lila's mommy to the movies tonight and I did some babysitting. What a proud dad and husband!
I was very ingenious to think I'll be able to do some work, make some calls and write stuff on my blogs while Lila would nicely play besides me. Actually she's putting in her mouth everything she finds around, pulls every object she touches, tears apart everything made of paper. Oh, and her favorite toy are my cellphone and my laptop. So forget about doing stuff with those.
I ended up finding a great entertainment for both. I used Spotify to discover her musical tastes. Elvis: she likes, and start to dance. Van Morrison: not excited. Boney M: she's excited and laughs. Opera: fascinated, doesn't move. And latin music and salsa: she can't stop dancing. I suspect she spent too much time in Venezuela lately!
Next time we'll do YouTube, I know she already loves Pocoyo.

I'm very excited about the birth of Kosovo as a country. I really can't judge if it's good or bad, I'm not familiar enough with the complicated local situation.
But when I see how happy and proud those people are, I'm really happy for them. In our old nations, we really forgot what it means to be excited and proud of our country. Except when our soccer team wins. Nice, but so pathetic...

Heard in the metro of Paris today, while passing by the poster of the upcoming movie 10.000: "Wow, dude, 10.000! For sure it's much better than 300!".
No doubt Hollywood found a great and very original way of naming their movies that ensures a pretty unlimited supply of titles. We'll see up to what number studios know to count.
